Hexxed!
2024
A magnetic tile-placement game of traps, paths, and survival, played across a welded icosahedron.
About the project
Players place magnetic tiles on a welded icosahedron, laying traps for their opponents while positioning themselves to be the last one standing. Each tile uses a Truchet pattern designed to line up correctly with neighboring tiles regardless of its orientation.
- Created as a 3D interpretation of ideas introduced in the board game, Tsuro, wherein players create continuous paths and try to avoid collision with the edge of the board or other players.
- Each hex is composed of Truchet tiles, which are traditionally square and have patterns such when placed in a grid they generate continuous interconnecting patterns.
- Monsters spawn across the map and follow similar tile paths, allowing for quick progression of the game and shifting strategies.
