Make a Game Toolkit
2026
An oversized paper-prototyping kit that invites museum visitors to explore play through tactile, creative quests.
About the project
Make-a-Game Toolkit is an oversized paper prototyping kit in the style of Mary Flanagan. It invites learners to engage creatively—and tactilely—with the concept of play, as explored in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts exhibition The Art of Play, by completing a series of quests around game design, flow, and interactivity.
- Co-designed with instructional designer Nina Feng, PhD, and curatorial specialists at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.
- Contains various “Quests to Play” that help museum patrons engage more fully with art contained in the Art of Play exhibit.
- Builds on foundational concept of innovation like segmenting, re-interpretation, change in modality, user observation, etc.
